Don't Lose Your 2006 Dental Insurance Benefits!

If you have dental insurance, your unused insurance benefits expire on December 31, 2006 - they do not carry over into 2007. So, it's use it or lose it!

If you haven't had a recent professional teeth cleaning, annual exam, or have been diagnosed as needing treatment you haven't yet completed, please call Desiree at 214-556-5251 right away to make sure we can work you into the schedule over the next two months.

Plus, those who need more treatment than their insurance covers in a single year often use this strategy:

- Schedule part of the work in December to use up 2006 benefits, then

- Schedule the balance of the work the first week in January using your new 2007 benefits

Halloween Recipes

Halloween Recipes for Your

Little Ghouls & Goblins

Here are a few recipes I came across that would be great to make with and for your kids:

This one is for a "Graveyard Cake":

Ingredients:
2 packages Instant Chocolate Pudding (four serving size)
3 1/2 cups milk
2 8-ounce tubs of whipped topping
1 16-ounce package of chocolate sandwich cookies
1 package of Milano Cookies
Gummy Worms

Crush the entire package of cookies by placing them all in a zip style plastic bag and have the kids pound on the package.

In a large bowl, make pudding as directed on the package but use 3 1/2 cups milk for both packages. Let stand 5 minutes.

Mix in one tub of the whipping topping then mix in half of the crushed cookies.

Spread the mixture into a 13x9 pan.

Sprinkle the rest of the crushed cookies on top. Put in refrigerator and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Use the Milano cookies to make the grave stones. Use the other tub of whipped topping to make ghosts. Stick gummy worms into the mixture so it looks like they are coming out of the dirt.

Here's one for "Gummy Worm Apples":

INGREDIENTS:

• 12 large apples
• 1 8-ounce jar boysenberry jam
• 4 tablespoons butter
• 12 gummy worms

PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Core apples from the stem end to 1/2 inch from the bottom. Do not push through. Place 1 teaspoon each jam and butter into hole.

Place in a pan and bake at 350 F., uncovered, for 35 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the apples.

When done, the apple should be tender.
Remove the apples from the oven. Let cool 15 minutes.

Set each apple in a bowl and spoon syrup from the baking pan around it. In top of each apple, insert a gummy worm with at least half of its body sticking out of the top of the apple.

Success Story of the Month - Fearful Smiler Becomes Fearless

Terry is a public speaker and a consultant whose teeth had been a source of embarrassment and pain for many years. She had learned to live with the embarrassment but the pain was too much to take at times so she decided to come to our office for help.

A while ago she noticed that several of her crowns were coming loose and her biggest fear was that her teeth would fall out while talking. She started carrying around a mirror so she could check her teeth numerous times during theday. She had stopped smiling completely and she completely disappeared if someone pulled out a camera!

She started making excuses so that she could avoid social situations, especially if food was involved. Her fear of having her teeth fall out while speaking was starting to affect the quality of her talks as well.
